The TLC stamping department is equipped with a wide variety of high speed presses with capacities up to 200 tons capable of running dies up to 24" by 50" in physical size. As can be seen by the accompanying photograghs, TLC continually updates its press facilities with the most modern, computer controlled machines in order to produce the type of precision, close tolerance parts which represent the majority of the Company's products. Press operators are trained in set up techniques and are responsible for in-process inspection of parts. Press stations area equipped with measuring equipment for checking critical dimensions including concentricity and burr. This additional quality control function further ensures compliance with customer specifications and the elimination of costly rejects.

TLC's program for the implementation of Statistical Process Control (SPC) is most applicable to the stamping department because of the high volume of parts produced with critical dimensions. SPC ensures a maximum yield of good parts minimizes the requirements for customer incoming inspection. The wide choice of press capacity and size provides the ability to run customer dies in the most economical machine based upon die design, part size, and quantity. It also makes it possible to run a given die in a number of different presses, thus offering a valuable scheduling flexibility which contributes to TLC's enviable reputation for on-time and Just-In-Time delivery. In addition to production quantities, TLC can produce prototypes and short run parts using low cost notch tooling. This provides parts at economical prices with a very short lead time, two to three weeks, including tooling. |
